Stood blankly as walls love will not set you going a stopped watch Give thankingly to that which is not your own tended plot grows unseen Hush those voices failing starting autumn waters hear the rush coming All that lives on is all that gives up the mending season carries us in Cast as mutes in another fight the subtle rite even numbers can't sanctify Turn to the sun hallowed by the light such golden inside you've kept hidden Hush those voices failing starting autumn waters hear the rush coming All that lives on is all that gives up the mending season carries us in Feel the rush coming

Fated 04:05
The orders made They fell away Those wishing at the well Romans prayed Indus offered Meagre idols to tell Revealed in the dirt Ancestors so secure Insured from acts of God Nothing augurs like the coming away Fated to fall Honest to a man Laboured too long Castles made of sand A horde descends But who here claims True title to the soil All ordinary men Who make a name As nations in themselves A hundred years on Or a thousand Who remembers anymore The kings and the clowns Who stood blindly And live as lessons Fated to fall Honest to a man Laboured too long Castles made of sand Have mercy on us all

about

In advance of the release of his new album - 'Ask The Minute Hand' - ROSH is pleased to announce the release of his next single, 'Mending Season'.

ROSH explains the process behind the writing of the song:
"'Mending Season' was the first song I wrote during the first lockdown. I hadn't picked up an instrument in months. Like a lot of people I was glued to my phone in a contradictory state of high anxiety and deep boredom.

Once I had uncoupled myself from distractions the song came quickly. It's about the collective wound we have all suffered during this pandemic, where some have suffered more than most, but where we all have lost something.

I was thinking of all the people I hadn't seen in months who were hurting, and considering what it would take for all of us to collectively heal from the exprience. As restrictions eased and we began to see each other again, it also felt like a return to ourselves and a return to life, after months of numbness and stupour. The 'Mending Season' of the title is the space we need to make for each other to grow and heal that had been denied for so long".

As well as 'Mending Season' the single also contains an exclusive b-side, 'Fated', which only appears on this single. Recorded during the 'Ask The Minute Hand' sessions, 'Fated' is a dark rumination on history and the end of civilizations.

ROSH said: "I first wrote and recorded ‘Fated’ on my ancient 8 track in my attic. It all started with a simple open tuning riff. The song is about how every civilization imagined itself eternal, but dusty ruins are a testament that nothing lasts forever. It’s a dark thought for the current crisis, but I wanted to face up to it, despite feeling small in the face of it. This is my modest response to that levelling perspective, a whisper in the dark."

The Mending Season single is out now for pay-as-you-feel.
